Alabama’s H.B. 130 and H.B. 385 Biils Ban Classroom LGBTQ+ Flags and Target Librarians

Alabama’s legislature has pushed two restrictive anti-LGBTQ bills. H.B. 130 prohibits LGBTQ+ flags in classrooms and broadens the state’s “Don’t say gay” law to cover grades 6-8; and H.B. 385 would imprison librarians for providing “sexual or gender-oriented material” to minors without parental consent. The bills await consideration in the state’s Republican-controlled upper legislative chamber. #Students & Youth Culture
