Arkansas Is Quietly Resisting Against Hateful Christian Nationalist

Jason Rapert, a Christian Nationalist appointed by Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) to the state’s library board, has sparked controversy with his hateful views. Rapert has criticized fellow board members for not supporting his push to remove LGBTQ books. He disparagingly labels these books “pornographic” and “smut.” He even suggested that the state library board should be abolished. On his Save The Nation broadcast, Rapert expressed his frustration over Arkansas's resistance to his conservative views by stating, “I cannot get those other board members to take a stand to stop some of the smut that is in those libraries. It’s ridiculous. I’ve made motions trying to do it.” He further argued that non-supportive leaders should be replaced to align with his interpretation of biblical principles. Emphasizing his belief that current leaders are failing in their duties. Rapert also accuses the community of “grooming,” a term often misused by anti-LGBTQ advocates to describe LGBTQ content. Critics note that such accusations distract from real issues of child abuse and often target marginalized authors. According to PEN America, 30% of banned books in the 2022-2023 school year featured characters of color or discussed racism, while another 30% included LGBTQ themes. Rapert's aggressive stance on removing LGBTQ+ content reveals a broader trend of marginalizing LGBTQ voices under the guise of protecting children. #Queer Up Social Justice
