HOTspots Happening Out introduces the HOTspots Happening Out Art Gallery with Dennis Dean, a dynamic art space showcasing a revolving collection of artwork and talent every month. This month, the gallery will celebrate Black History Month with a special artist showcase dedicated to the black LGBTQ+ community on February 18. The gallery will be open to all. Black History Month commemorates the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans to United States history and society. The tradition traces back to 1926 when the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH) designated the second week of February as "Negro History Week." This particular week was selected as it aligns with the birthdays of two notable figures, Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. HOTspots Happening Out Art Gallery with Dennis Dean understands the contribution made by black LGBTQ+ and celebrates it with pride.
