Chasten Buttigieg and Doug Emhoff Raise Record $321,000 for Harris at Fire Island Fundraiser

Chasten Buttigieg and Doug Emhoff raised an impressive $321,000 at a Fire Island fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris last Friday. The event, held at the home of Marius Meland and Eng Kian Ooi in the Pines area, surpassed the $200,000 raised by Cher in a 2016 Democratic fundraiser. Emhoff, who attended with Buttigieg, had to be “smuggled” off the island by security agents to avoid eager crowds, including "hunks in bikini cut swimsuits." Originally planned as a fundraiser for President Joe Biden, the event quickly sold out when Harris was announced as Biden's replacement following his withdrawal from the race. Attendees paid between $250 and $10,000 to attend. Democratic National Committee member Andrew Tobias confirmed that the event raised $321,000, making it a record-breaking occasion. During the fundraiser, Chasten Buttigieg shared a personal story about becoming adoptive parents. He also mentioned how Harris and Emhoff were there to support when their son had to be placed on a ventilator shortly after his birth. Emhoff took the opportunity to caution the crowd about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas's desire to overturn rights such as access to contraception and consensual same-sex encounters. #Queer Up Politics
