Colorado GOP Sparks Outrage with Anti-LGBTQ+ Rhetoric And A Call To Burn Pride Flags

The Colorado Republican Party recently sparked outrage by labeling LGBTQ+ individuals as "godless groomers" with intent on harming children in an email to its members. The party encouraged members to burn Pride flags in June and called queer people "Satanic" and "demonic" on social media. The email said “The month of June has arrived and, once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy, and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children.” The email further described gender-affirming care as irreversible and barbaric, contradicting the medical consensus that such care is reversible and rarely involves procedures on minors. It also shared a link to a video titled “God Hates Flags,” a sermon by Pastor Mark Driscoll, echoing the anti-LGBTQ+ slogan of the Westboro Baptist Church. Throughout Pride Month, the Colorado GOP's social media posts calling Pride month an "abomination" and urged parents to shield their children from queer individuals. The party also shared a post from Chaya Raichik, known as Libs of TikTok. In May, the Colorado GOP urged its members to remove their children from public schools, claiming educators would otherwise turn them transgender. #Social Justice
