Governor Ron DeSantis embarked on a presidential campaign that left a significant financial footprint. His campaign, coupled with the affiliated super PAC 'Never Back Down,' collectively spent a staggering $158.5 million. This substantial sum has raised eyebrows, considering the candidate failed to secure victory in any county within the lone state he contested. According to FEC reports released recently, the campaign and Never Back Down raised nearly $180 million in total for the year 2023. DeSantis exported his Anti-LGBTQ+ Culture War from Florida to America, spending more money per vote than any major Presidential candidate in history. It all leads to NOTHING! He spent more than $7000 per vote and went full Grassley for the campaign and did not win a single seat in the 99 counties of Iowa. Former Republican Congressman David Jolly, co-founder of the Forward Party, remarked, "I think this remains one of the most epic collapses of a presidential campaign in modern political history, and that’s not hyperbole." Despite federal rules preventing coordination between a candidate and a PAC, Never Back Down effectively became DeSantis' de facto campaign, organizing events in key states featuring the "special guest" Ron DeSantis. The PAC raised over $145.1 million, spending more than $130 million.
