Despite "Don't Say Gay", Palm Beach School Board Votes To Support LGBTQ+ History Month

The Palm Beach County School Board almost unanimously approved a proclamation declaring October "LGBTQ+ History Month." Only one speaker opposed the resolution, Barry Romoser, of Palm Beach Gardens. The vote followed a half hour of public comments, where almost all speakers supported it. Several speakers told personal stories about their own journey as an LGBTQ+ person or loving someone who is gay or transgender. In the proclamation, the county school board also emphasized its commitment to the academic success of all youth. The easy passage of the resolution stood in stark contrast to the counties to the south, where opposition was much stronger such as Miami-Dade and Broward. #Queer Up Education
