FQSN Creates A Safe Space For Queer And Femme Skaters In Wisconsin

FQSN, a group of nontraditional skaters on boards and roller skates, includes women, femmes, and nonbinary and trans people. They meet bi-weekly at Monona Skatepark on Nichols Road, Monona, and at Madison’s Goodman Skatepark on South Ingersoll Street. On Mondays and Wednesdays,  the FQSN crew welcomes new skaters and cheers each other. FQSN started in 2014 when Co-founder Leon C started inviting a small group of friends to a DIY space in southeast Madison. Over time, the group changed its name from Lady Skate Night to Femme Skate Night to be inclusive of trans people, then the name changed to FQSN to include transmasculine and nonbinary people. The group is changing the culture in Madison-area skateparks — but there’s still work to do. #Queer Up Sports
