According to a recent Gallup poll, LGBTQ+ identification in the U.S. continues to rise, with 7.6% of adults identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or another sexual orientation. This percentage marks a significant increase from 5.6% four years ago and over double the percentage reported in 2012. The data, based on aggregated information from Gallup telephone surveys conducted in 2023 with over 12,000 American adults aged 18 and older, reflects a growing trend. While 85.6% identify as straight or heterosexual, 7.6% identify with the LGBTQ+ community, and 6.8% choose not to respond. Gen Z and Millennials are significantly more likely to identify as LGBTQ+ compared to older generations. In fact, each successive younger generation is approximately twice as likely as the preceding one to identify as LGBTQ+. Bisexuality emerges as the predominant LGBTQ+ identity among Gen Z, Millennials, and Generation X. Fifteen percent of all Gen Z adults, including over two-thirds of those identifying as LGBTQ+, identify as bisexual. Women exhibit a higher likelihood of identifying as LGBTQ+ compared to men, with 8.5% identifying as LGBTQ+. Bisexuality stands out as the most prevalent identification among women, especially among Gen Z women. Notably, 28.5% of Gen Z women and 12.4% of Millenial women identify as LGBTQ+. These statistics are one of the reasons why conservative and evangelical views will have very little impact in the America of the future. #Queer Up The USA View
