Ghana's Supreme Court Upholds Gay Sex Ban

Ghana’s Supreme Court upheld a 60-year-old law criminalizing same-sex relations, dismissing a challenge to the ban. Under the 1960 Criminal Code, same-sex sexual activity is deemed “unnatural carnal knowledge,” punishable by up to three years in prison. The court is also deliberating on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, which proposes harsher penalties and increased crackdowns on those promoting LGBTQ identities. The bill awaits President Nana Akufo-Addo’s approval to determine its constitutionality. #Queer Up The World View
