The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF) hosted its much-anticipated “Pride: Then, Now, and Forever” show on Saturday, June 29, at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale. The event, touted as a multigenerational concert celebration, drew significant attention for its vibrant tribute to LGBTQ+ history and culture. Formed in 2010, GMCSF was established by singers who wanted to create a regional cultural force with a unique approach. A merger of two choruses a few years ago solidified this vision, culminating in the dynamic performances of “Pride: Then, Now, and Forever.” The concert featured iconic anthems from past pride parades, including "It's Raining Men," "Dancing Queen," and "Y.M.C.A." A highlight of the evening was "We've Come Through The Storm," with lyrics and music by Fort Lauderdale-based folk artist Tom Nichols and composer-pianist Dan Chadburn. However, the most anticipated performance was the original piece "Don't Say Gay," a robust and show-stopping number created exclusively for GMCSF by Los Angeles-based composer Dave Volpe. This was Floida’s answer to DeSantis and his every hateful legislation, including the “Don’t Say gay” law. #Queer Up South Florida & Florida
