Legendary actor and comedian Bob Newhart passed away last week. Newhart was known for his groundbreaking stand-up comedy and a television show named The Bob Newhart Show. The show followed Dr. Bob Hartley, a Chicago psychologist. A landmark moment for the gay community occurred in the 1976 episode “Some Of My Best Friends Are….” Named after a 1971 indie LGBTQ+ film, the episode showcases Bob Hartley’s patient, Mr. Plager (Howard Hesseman), discussing his relationship issues and coming out as gay. #Queer Up Gay Culture
