Police in Turkey shut down parts of Istanbul and detained at least 15 individuals for participating in a banned Pride parade on Sunday. The message was clear, “We didn’t recognize your absurd bans.” Pride organizers later announced the release of those arrested. The government had banned the pride festivities, calling them "illegal groups." In response, organizers moved the event from Taksim Square, the usual pride spot, to the Suadiye neighborhood. Over 100 LGBTQ+ community members attended the pride. #Queer Up The World View
