The Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus had planned a concert series featuring LGBTQ+ icon Kelly Clarkson's songs, unaware she'd become a fan. Upon learning about the concerts, Clarkson invited them onto her show as part of “What I’m liking” segment and surprised them during their performance. Clarkson's songs resonate with the LGBTQ+ community's journey, which inspired the chorus to honor her. She pledged support, offering a $1000 check from one of her sponsors to help them continue fearlessly creating. Artistic director Eric Shepard expressed gratitude for Clarkson's music.
