Lady Bunny, a renowned drag queen, has accused RuPaul, who is also her longtime friend, of contributing to environmental destruction through fracking. RuPaul expressed concerns about the future of humanity in an interview with journalist Ronan Farrow before the release of his new memoir, "The House of Hidden Meanings." He voiced fears of an impending civil war and described humans as being in a cycle of destruction. RuPaul revealed plans for a fortified compound on his Wyoming ranch to serve as a safety measure against potential turmoil. But Lady Bunny, who met RuPaul in the ’80s and moved to New York together for their drag careers, appeared to take issue with Ru. In a recent Instagram post, Bunny wrote, “So Ru is protecting himself from the climate’s ‘cycle of destruction’ which his fracking helps to create." The post also commented on RuPaul voting and writing songs about the Clintons and Obamas, who, just like Biden, supported drilling for more fuels. In 2023, official statistics revealed a record-breaking daily oil production of 13.2 million barrels in the US, surpassing the 13 million barrels per day during Trump’s tenure. Proving Bunny’s point true, RuPaul disclosed in a 2020 NPR interview that he leases land in Wyoming to oil firms. Lady Bunny also pointed out the hypocrisy of Drag Race hosting a Climate Change Ball on Season 10 to raise awareness about the climate crisis. #Queer Up Drag Culture
