LGBTQ+ Issues Are Not The Top Concerns For Queer Voters In November Election, New Survey Shows

LGBTQ+ issues may not be the main focus for queer voters in the upcoming November election, according to a new survey. The survey, conducted by Data For Progress, found that while LGBTQ+ issues remain important, they're not the top concern for many queer voters. Interestingly, the survey revealed that 57% of respondents held a favorable view of the Democratic Party, with 51% supporting President Biden. Meanwhile, only 20% had a favorable view of the Republican Party, and 22% supported former President Trump. Notably, 52% of transgender respondents expressed disappointment with the Biden administration, stating that it's not meeting their expectations. Moreover, 70% of LGBTQ+ individuals identifying as Democrats believe their party should do more to protect queer Americans from anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, especially younger respondents. When it comes to election priorities, LGBTQ+ civil rights ranked lower compared to issues like the economy, jobs, and inflation. The survey suggests that LGBTQ+ voters are not single-issue voters and may prioritize economic concerns, given that LGBTQ+ workers still earn less than heterosexual workers. Surprisingly, regardless of age, the majority of LGBTQ+ voters feel that neither party truly represents their interests. Plus, it is important to note that enthusiasm for voting in the 2024 election was only at 61% among LGBTQ+ voters, with younger voters showing the lowest enthusiasm. We can say that LGBTQ+ voters often lean towards the Democratic Party due to the Republican Party's stance on LGBTQ+ issues, which has made equality a partisan matter. #Queer Up Politics
