LGBTQ+ Muslims Call For Ceasefire In Front Of Stonewall NYC

One-hundred LGBTQ+ Muslims gathered for prayer for Palestine in front of the Stonewall National Monument to demonstrate there is “no pride in genocide.” The action, endorsed by seven LGBTQ+ and Palestinian rights groups, was a call for a permanent ceasefire from faith communities. Rafa Kidvai, a queer Pakistani parent from Brooklyn and one of the organizers of the Queer Muslim Jummah said the group gathered to bring attention to this genocide and to demand an end to pinkwashing and using trans/queer bodies, stories, and struggles to fuel Islamophobia. Pinkwashing is a form of propaganda used by extremists to divert attention from the atrocities of the war. #Queer Up Religion
