LGBTQ+ Parents in America Are Raising Over 5 Million Children

A new study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law reveals that approximately 5 million children in the U.S. are being raised by LGBTQ+ parents. This includes 2 million children in single-parent LGBTQ+ households and nearly 300,000 with same-sex couple parents. The study found that 2.57 million LGBTQ+ adults are parenting children under 18, representing 18 percent of queer adults. Additionally, the rate of adoption within same-sex couples is 21 percent, 4 percent of same-sex couples foster, and 17 percent have stepchildren. These statistics are significantly higher than for different-sex couples. #Queer Up The USA View
