Miami Book Fair 2024 is About Diverse Voices and Stories of Transformation

The Miami Book Fair is back in full swing for its 41st year, drawing readers and writers of all walks of life to Downtown Miami for a week of discovery and connection. The event will run from November 17 to 24. This year’s fair promises a global lineup, featuring more than 500 authors who will share their stories and insights in English, Spanish, and Haitian Kreyol—making this celebration a true testament to Miami’s diversity. Anchoring the fair are two powerful queer voices with unique stories that resonate deeply within the LGBTQ community. Miami’s newly appointed Poet Laureate, Caridad Moro, a dedicated teacher and poet, will share her work and experiences, offering a local voice and a fresh perspective. Joining her is Isabelle Camille, a Haitian-American mother and author, whose memoir, Sole’s Mom: A Transgender Journey of Love, Loss, and Letting Go, poignantly chronicles her journey from mourning the life she imagined for her child to embracing the child’s true self. Camille’s story dives into the struggles and victories that come with raising a transgender child, particularly within the Haitian-American and Black communities, where cultural stigmas can weigh heavily on acceptance. The fair’s heart, the Street Fair, takes place from November 22 to 24. From literary fiction to memoirs and poetry, there’s something for everyone in the community. Tickets are affordable, with free admission for children under 12, $5 for teens and seniors, and $12 for adults. So, whether you’re a lifelong reader or a casual visitor, Miami Book Fair 2024 is calling you.
