Pink Media, a prominent social media marketing agency specializing in LGBTQ+ outreach, was dealt a heavy blow as all of its 250+ accounts on Twitter were permanently suspended this month. The agency's statement, released following the incident, highlighted concerns over targeted censorship against LGBTQ+ voices on the platform. According to Pink Media, the suspension of all accounts occurred at 6:30 a.m. EST, citing a vague violation of Twitter’s rules based on a "user report." The agency accused the platform of executing a deliberate takedown, asserting that the coordinated action could only have been initiated internally. The statement mentioned that this was a “well-researched and well-prepared takedown of a network of LGBTQ+ X profiles that had well over 1 million followers worldwide. The suspension affected not only Pink Media's business-focused profiles but also LGBTQ+ tourism profiles, such as Palm Springs’ Gay Desert Guide and Visit Britain’s GayBritain account, along with numerous others. Criticism towards Twitter intensified following the incident, with Pink Media and others alleging that the platform, under Elon Musk's ownership, has fostered an environment hostile to marginalized communities. Many LGBTQ+ organizations have left the social media platform, citing concerns over increased homophobia and diminished protections. If the suspension of Pink Media’s accounts were intentional, it would not be the first time that Elon Musk’s platform has tried to sabotage queer voices. GLAAD’s annual Social Media Safety Index Report found that the app is the worst among all social media platforms for LGBTQ+ people. #Queer Up Social Justice
