New Study Shows 79% Of American Workers Decide Where They Live And Work Over Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws

Legislation targeting LGBTQ+ rights not only violates human rights but also affects the American economy by deterring potential employees. A recent report from Out & Equal, a nonprofit promoting workplace equality, reveals that 94 percent of 563 surveyed U.S. employees, regardless of sexual orientation, perceive a decline in LGBTQ+ equality over the past year. Additionally, 45 percent feel less secure in their states due to anti-LGBTQ+ laws. CEO Erin Uritus emphasizes that the significant progress made by the LGBTQ+ movement over two decades is now under threat. As a consequence of anti-LGBTQ+ laws in state legislatures, 31 percent of respondents have contemplated moving due to a lack of security. An overwhelming majority of 79 percent stated that such laws would influence their decision to relocate for a job or position in another state. Although 40 percent expressed discomfort discussing the effects of anti-LGBTQ+ laws with supervisors, most respondents believe their supervisors could offer support in various ways. Fifty-six percent believe supervisors can offer flexible or remote work arrangements, and 55 percent believe engaging in public policy advocacy would be helpful. Some suggested employers provide resources for relocation, offer support for out-of-state travel and benefits, and implement dedicated assistance programs for employees affected by changing legislation. #Queer Up Gay Culture
