Michael Gunning, a World Championship swimmer, has been named an ambassador for Pride House-Paris 2024 ahead of the upcoming Olympics. He believes this event could set a record for the most openly LGBTQ+ athletes in Olympic history. In an exclusive interview with Attitude, he emphasized the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in top-level sports, noting the significant progress made in this regard. Past ambassadors have included notable figures like Stephen Fry, Ben Cohen, and David Furnish. Reflecting on his tenure as a Pride House ambassador during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Gunning expresses his aspirations to leverage his past experiences in his upcoming role in Paris. He emphasizes the Olympics' core essence of fostering unity and aims to inspire, educate, and empower all individuals attending the grand sporting event in Paris, touted as the world's largest.
