This Veterans Day, the Library of Congress honored LGBTQ veterans by sharing their stories. Spanning from WWII to the present day, these stories highlight resilience in the face of unique challenges. Many queer veterans served their country while keeping their true selves hidden, due to exclusionary policies threatening their military careers. These stories illuminate the courage, sacrifice, and dedication that queer service members have shown through the decades. To celebrate the day, the library also allowed visitors to explore these narratives at the Library of Congress with access to the historic Thomas Jefferson Building and special exhibits. The public also had the rare chance to tour the Library’s renowned Main Reading Room, showcasing one of Washington, D.C.'s most beautiful spaces. #Queer Up Gay Culture
