When Chip McKenney relocated to Los Angeles twenty years ago, he struggled to find his place. But a polo lesson at Santa Barbara Polo Club changed everything. Now, as head of the Gay Polo League, he organizes the world's only LGBTQ+ polo organization. Their annual tournament in Wellington, Florida, attracts players from Argentina to London. McKenney believes polo's inclusivity stems from its international nature and team dynamics. In the polo world, identity takes a backseat to camaraderie and skill. The 2024 Lexus International Gay Polo Tournament, presented by Douglas Elliman Real Estate, kicks off from April 4 through 6. On Thursday, April 4, the event begins with a VIP Sponsor’s Reception by Invitation. Friday, April 5, features the Polotini Charity Party, benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation. A portion of ticket sales aids the Foundation's global AIDS fight. On Saturday, April 6, the GPL Tournament Finals commence, showcasing 16 LGBTQ+ polo players from around the globe. Four teams vie for two GPL Perpetual Trophies: The Senator’s Cup & The Founder’s Cup. Held at the prestigious Patagones Polo Club, tickets start at $50. #Queer Up Sports
