Pridelines is Awarded $50,000 From LGBTQ+ Equity Fund Grant Award A Day After HHS Secretary Visits

Recently, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra visited Miami to underscore the Biden-Harris Administration's efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community and reduce prescription drug costs for Latino communities. Secretary Becerra’s first stop was at Pridelines, Miami’s only LGBTQ+ Community Center. Here, he engaged with the center’s staff and discussed the healthcare needs and services for the LGBTQ+ community. During the event, he outlined the administration's historic actions to ensure that LGBTQ+ youth, adults, families, caretakers, and providers have the resources and support they need, accessing necessary health services free from discrimination. Following his visit to Pridelines, Secretary Becerra went to the Borinquen Health Care Center and met with the Hispanic Federation and other community leaders to discuss the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to lower prescription drug costs for Latino communities through the Inflation Reduction Act. The HHS has implemented various measures to improve access to care for LGBTQ+ individuals. In 2021, the Food and Drug Administration approved the first-ever long-acting, injectable form of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). With the Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden-Harris Administration has introduced significant savings on prescription drugs. The LGBTQ+ community of Florida received another pleasant news just a day after Becerra’s visit when Pridelines got a grant of $50000 as the LGBTQ+ Equity Fund Grant Award. #Queer Up South Florida & Florida
