Queer Thomas Jolly Prepares Spectacular Paris Olympic Opening Ceremonies

The final touches are being applied to the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympic Games. Overseen by renowned French director Thomas Jolly, known for exploring LGBTQ themes in his work, these events promise to be memorable. Jolly, who lives with his boyfriend, shared insights about the opening and closing ceremonies in a recent Vogue Magazine interview. The opening parade on July 26 will be held on the River Seine, while the closing ceremony, titled “Records,” will take place at the Stade de France on August 11. Rumors suggest Lady Gaga might perform. Jolly, 42, has dedicated 18 months to these preparations. Jolly’s vision for the Paris 2024 ceremonies is a “celebration of being alive and of living together.” Jolly admits the ceremony might be “a little chaotic,” but it will be successful only “if everyone feels represented in it.” Jolly told Le Monde upon his appointment as artistic director, “Everyone deserves access to culture, regardless of their location.” Growing up near Rouen and studying at the National Theater of Brittany, Jolly founded his own theater company in 2006. His innovative productions have earned acclaim, including a re-imagined "Romeo and Juliet" for the Paris Opera House and a gender-themed “Starmania.” Jolly creative intention for the opening ceremony being barges on the Seine is the centerpiece of NBC’s commercials starring Steven Spielberg by him saying “You are going to see something revolutionary and never seen before.” All the vision of queer artist Thomas Jolly. #Queer Up Sports
