Second Under-18 Transgender Teen Killed in Alabama Shooting

Tragedy struck in Mobile, Alabama, as 17-year-old transgender teen Tayy Dior Thomas became the second under-18 trans person killed this year. Shot dead, Thomas was found near a crashed vehicle on Darwood Drive. Twenty-year-old Carl Washington Jr, who is charged with murder, allegedly had a relationship with Thomas. He pleads not guilty and remains in custody without bail as the investigation continues. Thomas's untimely demise represents the 14th reported violent killing of a transgender or gender-expansive person in 2024. Human Rights Campaign has also paid tribute to Thomas. #Trans Rights
