One of America’s largest LGBTQ+ symphony orchestra musical groups held a concert at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts this week. South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble performed ‘A Night At The Pops’ as a nostalgic return to a summer concert theme like the Boston Pops esplanade concerts. South Florida Pride is one of the nation's largest cultural LGBTQ+ performance groups. It actually consists of 6 performing arts LGBTQ+ groups including a jazz ensemble, a youth band, tropical winds, a steel band which performed during the concert intermission and of course the beloved Pride Marching Band. Under The direction of Artistic Director Dan Bassett and Assistant Director Sara Cowley the program was a triumphant return last held before pandemic. You can learn more by the Unapologetically Queer interview Al Ferguson had with Bassett. The entertaining program included Stars And Stripes Forever, a musical performance of ‘Casey At The Bat and even a rousing rendition of Tuba Tiger Rag.
