A recent Australian study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior reveals that nearly 60% of young Australians (aged 18-35) have experienced strangulation or choking during sex despite its risks of severe injury or death. The study surveyed 4,700 people, finding that 57% had been choked at least once, and 51% had choked a partner. Notably, 64% of women and 78% of trans and non-binary respondents reported being choked. The study highlights that choking is typically performed by men, regardless of their partner's gender. A 2021 study of over 4,000 U.S. university students found that 26.5% of women, 6.6% of men, and 22.3% of transgender and non-binary participants reported being choked by a partner during their most recent sexual encounter. #Queer Up Gay Culture
