Texas House Passes Bill That LGBTQ+ Fear May Be Used To Target Drag Shows

On Sunday, the Texas House approved a version of SB12 that omits direct references to drag performances. The original language of the Senate Bill aimed to protect children from attending drag shows filled with sexual content. The bill would ban real or simulated groping, real or simulated arousal, and the display of a sex toy if done in a “prurient” manner in front of a minor or on public property. And it includes a definition of sexual conduct that bars wearing accessories or prosthetics that enhance the female or male form in front of a minor or on public property. Violators of the SB12 bill could face $10,000 fines and a year in jail. #Queer Up Drag Culture
