Texas Pastor Wants To Put "a Bullet in Brains" of LGBTQ People

Pastor Dillon Awes of Stedfast Baptist Church in Watauga, Texas, has sparked outrage with his inflammatory remarks against LGBTQ individuals. Awes, known for his extremist views, recently condemned Christian churches that affirm LGBTQ people, whom he calls “sodomites” and “sexual predators.” He specifically criticized Pastor Charles Andrew Stanley of North Point Ministries for inviting a married same-sex couple to speak at a conference. Awes said, “These faggots should get a bullet in their brain,” emphasizing that queer individuals should receive the death penalty rather than be allowed to preach. Awes's remarks reflect the New Independent Fundamental Baptist (New IFB) movement's extreme stance, which goes beyond mainstream Baptist teachings by advocating for the execution of LGBTQ individuals. The Southern Poverty Law Center has classified Awes’s church as a hate group due to its dangerous rhetoric. Local residents, like Mandi Skinner, have protested against Stedfast Baptist Church’s hate speech. Skinner said, “That’s not freedom of speech. That’s vile, threatening, slanderous, dangerous language.” Despite Awes’s hateful words, many Christian churches continue to welcome LGBTQ individuals, embracing them as part of their mission to spread the gospel and promote inclusivity. Sunshine Cathedral Church of Sout Florida is one such queer-friendly church that believes in acceptance. #Queer Up Gay Culture
