As the political landscape continues to impact queer lives, The Our Fund Foundation is stepping up to offer crucial support. The foundation recently announced its 2024 Health & Wellness Fund grants, totaling $200,000, to back transformative LGBTQ-focused initiatives in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The grants will be distributed among 11 nonprofits at a reception at Our Fund’s headquarters in Wilton Manors on November 19. Talking about the significance of these grants in the present time, David Jobin, president & CEO of The Our Fund Foundation said, “With Florida’s anti-LGBTQ and anti-equality laws continuing to inflict harm on our community, it’s more imperative than ever to provide responsive, relevant, and impactful grantmaking.” The grant recipients include Alliance for LGBTQ+ Youth, offering mental health support for queer youth, and Sunshine Cathedral’s Food Sharing Outreach, aiding food-insecure LGBTQ and HIV+ individuals. Other notable projects include Chainless Change, The McKenzie Project’s HOTS, Buddy System MIA, Alzheimer’s Association, Jewish Community Services of South Florida, TransInclusive Group, The Pride Center at Equality Park, Ujima Men’s Collective - Tapestry: Reclaiming Our Past, and YES Institute. Each funded project addresses the distinct needs of South Florida’s queer communities, focusing on mental health, food security, housing, senior care, and more. As election season concludes, The Our Fund Foundation invites you to join them for a moment of reflection, resilience, and community renewal.
