Tim Walz Slams Republicans At HRC Gala And Stand By LGBTQ Rights

Minnesota Governor and running mate of presidential candidate Kamala Harris Tim Walz delivered a keynote at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual gala where he highlighted his dedication to LGBTQ rights and criticized his GOP opponent, Sen. J.D. Vance, for calling school shootings a "fact of life." Walz countered, saying, “It’s a fact of life, some people are gay. But you know what’s not a fact of life? That our children need to be shot dead in schools.” Walz praised Vice President Kamala Harris for her support of queer rights, calling the Biden-Harris administration the "most pro-LGBTQ+ in American history." He commended Harris for officiating some of the first same-sex marriages in California after the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling. Walz also underscored the importance of enacting red flag laws and banning assault weapons. He noted, “Our kids should be free to go to school without being shot dead in the halls.” In Congress, Walz was an early advocate for same-sex marriage and supported the repeal of "don’t ask, don’t tell." As governor, he signed protections for transgender healthcare and banned conversion therapy, reaffirming Minnesota’s commitment to LGBTQ rights. Walz emphasized the importance of fighting for human dignity and equality. He said, "For God’s sake, the bar is pretty damn low here to treat people like human beings." #Queer Up Politics
