Tom Daley’s Crocheted Briefs Fetch $13,000 in Charity Auction

A limited-edition pair of Tom Daley’s crocheted briefs has been sold for over approximately $13,000 in a charity auction on eBay. The auction saw 112 bids placed, with all proceeds going to the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS). Daley, a five-time Olympic medalist who recently announced his retirement from diving after winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, returned to the diving board for an awareness campaign about alcohol-related drowning incidents. The campaign, developed in collaboration with Malibu and the RLSS, featured Daley strolling down Brighton Beach with a drink in his hand before stripping down to reveal his red crocheted briefs emblazoned with the warning, “Don’t Drink and Dive.” The RLSS has highlighted the dangers of drinking near water, revealing that one in four drowning deaths in the UK is linked to alcohol. In 2023 alone, there were 236 accidental drowning deaths in the UK, a rise from the previous year. Malibu’s vice-president, Craig van Niekerk, also emphasized safety, saying, “Staying safe this summer means keeping it fun by drinking responsibly.” #Queer Up Sports
