Trans Athlete’s Mom Faces Job Loss Over Sports Law Violation

Jessica Norton, an information management specialist at Monarch High in Coconut Creek, may lose her job with the Broward School District following allegations of violating Florida's "Fairness in Women’s Sports Act." The law, enacted in 2021, bans transgender girls from competing in girls' sports teams. Norton’s trans child is at the center of the controversy. Superintendent Howard Hepburn is recommending Norton's termination, with the School Board scheduled to discuss the matter tomorrow at Plantation High. Despite the potential for heated debate, four of nine board members have indicated they may oppose her firing. #Students & Youth Culture
