Transgender Woman Wins Democratic Nomination For Florida Legislature

Ashley Brundage made history on Tuesday night by winning the Democratic nomination for Florida House District 65. Ashley Brundage is the founder and president of Empowering Differences. She won over 81 percent of the vote in the Democratic Primary for Florida House District 65. This means she will face incumbent Republican Rep. Karen Gonzalez Pittman in November. The district favored President Joe Biden in 2020, but it swung red in 2022 when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis won re-election and pushed an anti-LGBTQ agenda. Brundage shared a post on Twitter, saying, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to announce that we’ve won the Democratic primary election with a resounding victory over 80% for Florida State House District 65!” If elected, Brundage would become the first transgender member of the Florida Legislature. She joins Nate Douglas and Joe Saunders as part of a trio of Democratic LGBTQ candidates vying to flip Florida House seats. Agenda PAC has already announced support for Saunders and Douglas, highlighting them as priority races nationwide. With both Saunders and Douglas winning their nominations uncontested, increased support for Brundage is anticipated as her campaign gains momentum. #Trans Rights
