University of Florida’s Anti-LGBTQ President Ben Sasse Resigns to Care for Ailing Wife

University of Florida President Ben Sasse, a former U.S. senator from Nebraska, will resign effective July 31 to focus on his family after his wife Melissa was diagnosed with epilepsy. Sasse, who faced controversy over his appointment due to his stances on LGBTQ issues and the opaque selection process, announced his decision on Twitter. Melissa has been struggling with severe seizures and memory issues following an aneurysm and strokes in 2007. Sasse, became UF's 13th president almost two years ago. #Queer Up Politics
