Scott Newton recently made an exclusive public announcement while talking to OutSFL that he's running for mayor of Wilton Manors again. He emphasized the importance of stable growth, infrastructure, and dealing with rising sea levels. During this elaborate interview, he talked about all the challenges the city is facing and said that the work is not yet done! While he was in Tallahassee, he met with lawmakers who have the right to determine which project to approve. These lawmakers also decide the money the state can spare for the approved projects. Newton emphasized Wilton Manor’s need for funds for maintaining infrastructure, particularly the water/sewage system, which has been problematic. Newton stressed the urgency of installing sea walls to protect the city from flooding due to rising seas. He also seemed determined to finish all the ongoing and upcoming projects in the city, including developments at Alibi Plaza and on 24th St., as well as a proposed hotel on Dixie Hwy. During the interview, Newton also expressed his desire for workforce housing to make sure that those who work in Wilton Manors can also afford to live there. As Vice Mayor Mike Bracchi and Commissioner Chris Caputo are about to reach the term end this year, Newton hopes that they continue. He said he is ready to support them if they wish to run again. Newton stated that this would be his final term as mayor, and hence, he is aiming to finish what he started. #Queer Up Politics
